Wordpress comments? Should I accept or not, help!?

I get a lot of spam on my wordpress blog. But some of them dont look like spam so i dunno why it marked them as spam. For example one of them is just " :D " and the other is "amazing page dude". there is a particular one that says "[...] tagged lil willOwn a Wordpress blog? Make monetization easier with the WP Affiliate Pro plugin. Your day *WILL* come saved by 3 others witchigirl bookmarked on 03/29/08 | " does that mean someone bookmarked my post? it was called "your day will come"

  1. If you don't already, use Akismet to filter spam. This will catch most of the offensive rubbish. Then, if you see a comment that doesn't add anything to your blog then just delete it. If you don't, your readers will see it and they will think that either you don't care what goes into your blog, or you approve it. Either way, spammy comments don't help you. Just delete anything that doesn't add value.
  2. Hi there, Many folks use automated software to post silly comments or do a ping-back/track-back to your blog in order to get some backlinks to their own site/blog. As mentioned earlier, Akismet is one option to prevent spam, another alternative is is 'spam karma' which I'm using on all my blogs. It works superbly. You can check it out here: http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma/ Best wishes, Adrian
  3. If you haven't done so already, set the comments to be approved before going live, you can then delete the ones you believe is spam, and approve the others that are fine. What you maybe seeing also are "trackbacks" where someone has posted your blog link, or as you said bookmarked it.
