How can I prevent CPU overload penalties on my Wordpress blog?
My blogging site www.sciencetext.com is periodically subject to a suspension by the webhost because something on the site trips the server's CPU. How can I optimize my blog, Wordpress database etc to prevent this from happening without having to pay for an upgrade.

- This is a tough one because there are so many different things that could be causing this. The first thing you can try is disabling some plugins, especially if you have any very complex ones (ones that connect to other sites, process extensive data etc). You can also use the WP-Cache 2 plugin here; http://mnm.uib.es/gallir/wp-cache-2/ and you can install the Bad Behavior 2 plugin which blocks 'bad' traffic like spam: http://error.wordpress.com/2006/07/04/bad-behavior-2/ If cpu usage continues to be an issue you might want to consider switching hosting companies (bluehost is notoriously bad for cpu over use issues, hostgator is a bit better), or switching to a dedicated server.
