Can a regular website be setup to ping like a wordpress blog?

I'm trying to find out if a regular website can be setup to "ping" like a wordpress blog? If so, how? Can you give me a clue?

1. ping? Ping just sends a packet to a server and waits for a response, I don't know how pinging wordpress would be different than pinging any other website. If you're asking if you can have the same ip address then no.
