How can I change my Wordpress Blog Site Theme/Template from a WordPress stock theme to one I found online?
I need a very simple, step by step, non computer jargon answer please! Thanks!

- You download the theme. You unpack the theme. You start an FTP client like WS_FTP. You go to the directory themes in your wordpress install. Usually: wp-content/themes. Dump the new theme there. Close the FTP client. Login to Wordpress. Go to Presentation. Your new theme should be listed. Click on it. It says it's activated. "View Site". Done. The only assumption here is that you know how to transfer files through FTP. How else would you have gotten an install online in the first place?!
- Henry.. I think I was hoping for an easier answer too..lol
- Henry, This is not a really easy question to answer as there are so many ways to install a new theme. First, if your blog site is hosted on a wordpress.com address, then you are limited to change the themes to those installed. If you are hosting your own wordpress install, then without having to use a FTP client (which can get tricky), most hosting services have a built in file manager system. Without knowing which host you are on (I'm on HostMonster), you can try checking for better answers in their support forum or call tech support. But, here is the basics: You will want to navigate to the public_html folder on your host. This is probably the first or root folder your site is installed in. You will need to look for your particular folder that your site is installed in, if you have multiple sites on the one account. If not, look for the wp-content folder and open it. You will then see "plugins", "themes" and a couple of other files/folders. Your theme is installed in the "themes" folder. There are already two themes there on a base install of wordpress, "default" and "classic". This is where you want to install your new theme(s) to. After your themes are put into this folder, log into your wordpress site, go to the "Presentation" tab, click on "Themes" and the scroll down and select the theme you want to activate. That's it! Just be aware that some themes don't play nicely with certain upgrades or versions of wordpress. And, some plugins will also cause problems. The best answer is to open your site in another window and test it out to make sure everything is working. Let me know if you have any other questions through my sites contact form.
