I need help with a wordpress theme?
So, I have a wordpress blog/website, and I think I've found a good template in which I want to use, but.... I don't have much experience with wordpress and it isn't the easiest thing to learn on the fly The theme I found was "structure" - http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=Akzm8FMMfOTM5BsdSJoPk78jzKIX;_ylv=0/SIG=12qvi77m1/EXP=1199159045/**http%3A//justintadlock.com/archives/2007/12/09/structure-wordpress-theme my site is in beta version currently but - http://nflminute.com/betadraft/ I would like to set it up to look like the preview image or the live demo. I haven't started editing on it yet in fear I might ruin something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, To be honest, I didn't know there was a "readme" That'll help me out a bunch

- Normally, I'm not a big one on telling people to RTM (read the manual), but in this case, you need to RTM. The readme.txt file that comes with that theme makes it crystal clear how you can enable or disable certain aspects of the theme. And, as the theme page itself states, "You need to understand how WordPress works, at least to some extent. This is not a theme for new WordPress bloggers, unless you are going to learn a little about the system on your own."
- Well, I would partially agree with dhvrm, that this question cant be answered in just a few lines, but here is what I would like to add. 1) Wordpress is really really simple. 2) Just make a backup of your theme and you are safe. Now play with it. 3) You just have to know 6-7 types of file like index.php, archieve.php, single.php etc. and the wordpress loop 4) Do not try any fancy tricks that ask you to modify wordpress "core" files. I do not mean the files of the theme that you modify. I am afraid that you will have to read at least this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Stepping_Into_Templates
- It's often better to ask the theme distributor about edits and modifications but remember, even if you mess up the theme you can easily start over again, that's the beautiful thing about WordPress, it takes two minutes to install if you need to start from scratch. There are some great video tutorials on installing and customizing WP themes at http://www.WordPressNewbies.com (everything's free), you might want to check it out :)
